Leafs in BIG Trouble

As you may have noticed I live Toronto so I'm talking a lot about the Leafs. I know there is not much to talk about, only the fact that they stink, but since everything that happens with the Leafs makes headlines around here it's hard to find news about anything else. So here is some Leaf news.
Right now the the Leafs are in big trouble and not just your normal big I'm talkin' Hal Gill sized trouble. In fact Hal Gill is involved. During a practice after Saturday's 5-1 loss to Phoenix, Gill and newcomer Jason Blake exchanged blows. Now, when it is do-or-die for the Leafs, the team turns on each other instead of finding strength in numbers, they are DOOMED. This is resulting in talk of firing GM John Ferguson Jr. and coach Paul Maurice (which wouldn't help at all).

Humber Valley Sharks Minor Pewee Select - Update

The Sharks were hoping for revenge against Avenue Road. We decided to use a new strategy, Phase 1 : We would lull the Ducks into a sense of false security by allowing them to score 8 or 9. Phase 2 : Strike with a merciless barrage of sudden goals. We executed phase 1 of the plan perfectly, unfortunately phase 2 didn't go so well.
Next up : The George Bell Doohickeys face certain defeat at the hands of the awesome Humber Valley Sharks.

The Great Big Gloat

What did I say??? Oh yeah, that Pogge stinks compared to Rask and Raycroft is a bench warmer! Then on Wednesday what happens? Raycroft is sitting on the bench Pogge is in the minors and Rask wins his first NHL start! And did I mention Rask was FIRST STAR, I am psychic! John Ferguson Jr. is doomed, that is embarrassing! I wonder what Leaf fans are thinking,(I don't know I'm not a Leaf fan) but one thing's for sure the Leaf Nation is angry! JF Jr. won't like the Leaf Nation when it's angry!

Humber Valley Sharks Minor Peewee Selects - Update

Despite two spectacular periods of hockey the Sharks allowed two in the third and the York Mills Muffin Men prevailed yet again (sigh). Peter B. did deliver a crushing body check that that left the York Mills player crying for his mommy (well it's something).

Hockey on Saturday

Strangely enough the Leafs beat the Sens 3-0, Vesa Toskala getting his first SO as a Leaf. Even more strange Bryan McCabe played well, recording 2 assists. Jason Spezza had an off game which was one of the reasons the Leafs won. In other games Martin Brodeur recorded his 500th win joining Patrick Roy as only the 2nd goalie to reach 500. He and his Devils convincingly defeated the Flyers 6-2. In his first game as a Coyote Ilya Bryzgalov shutout the LA kings. If this keeps up Pheonix will gain some much needed goalie help. Some advice to the LA GM, get Jose Theodore. You have no starting goalie and Theodore is looking to revive his career. LA would be the perfect place for that. Here's one reason to fire Leaf's GM, John Ferguson Jr. The guy he got for goaltending prospect Tuuka Rask, Andrew Raycroft, is sitting on the bench, while Rask gets ready for his first NHL start. He could have traded Justin Pogge, another goalie prospect, but Pogge was Canadian so he ruled that out. Now Pogge is the AHL backup. This stupid move makes Ferguson look dumb now...OR DOES IT? You decide in my poll.

Humber Valley Minor Peewee Selects - Update

After some encouraging signs in the game against the Ducks (What's with all the horns Avenue Road parents? Are you five years old?) the Sharks suffered ignominious defeat at the hands of York Mills. The faithful continue to ask - when will the real Sharks show up?
